Its possible you might have disturbed some crap in the system and it has blocked the filter in the reservoir????

Did you bleed the system with the engine off as guided to by LR? Unfortunately these hydraulic systems use oil with lower lubrication properties compared to Dexron systems of old. This means air must be purged without the engine running, or there's a high possibility of permanent pump damage. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Hi yes I bled it with the engine off and the reservoir stopped bubbling so then I turned the engine on and turned it lock to lock, and it seems ok while up on axle stands but lower it to the ground and it goes solid and hard to turn the wheel? |

Hi , I am using the correct fluid and as far as I can tell there is no crap in the system.

Could the pump itself be failing? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

The only possible thing left is pump failure as mentioned before as there is not much else that can go wrong, 2013 FL2 XS.

You've definitely connected the pipes the correct way round?, although it's difficult to conceive how they could be wrong.

Two things spring to mind, you have crossed the hoses from the pump or you have a hydraulic lock, you need to check that with the engine running when you turn the steering with the return line from the rack loosened, fluid should leak from the line and the steering become light. All the indications are you have crossed lines, the system is very simple and there are numerous diagrams on the internet showing exploded diagrams. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Sound like you may have fitted the one way Valve the wrong way round, its like a disc apparently and can fall out when the pipes are removed. There is a thread on here somewhere with someone who had the same issue and that was the cause. |

That makes sense, I didn't realise it was handed, that would cause a hydraulic lock. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
