Cracks over but wont start up

Hi

Help or advice if possible

Not driven my car in about 2 weeks, went to start it today and the engine cranks, but wont start. Anyone have any ideas to why this might be?

Cheers

Battery?

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic38965.html?highlight=battery

Otherwise - Read the recorded OBD Fault Codes - FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)

(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

I really don’t know but if it were me I would try the old disconnect the battery for a bit trick.

Its not the battery as it cranks over really well. Not CPS as its actually cranking.
Probably a fuel issue.
You need to read error codes.

OH HANG ON - YOUR FUEL TANK IS EMPTY !!!

Well spotted Jules, I hadn't looked at his gallery, or spotted his link to video.

Even if his tank is not completely empty, I would imagine a lot of muck resides in that part of his fuel tank. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

At the end of the video, when the engine stops cranking, the fuel gauge goes up to just short of full.

The presentation of this FL2's problems remind me of the live exercises we had to complete when training as a Project Manager. They were slightly misleading and were designed to force trainees to search for the full facts before jumping to conclusions. -----I seem to be failing on this problem!!-----

I have checked the OP's previous posts, and not found his FL2's age or model, it would be handy if the OP filled in his details.

In the meantime I stand by my previous posts in his previous thread on the (related?) problem(s).

Cranking without starting could be many things, some of which would need live data from a suitable diagnostic tool to see what is happening.
Anything in the list below can prevent starting.
Crank sensor failed.
Cam sensor failed.
Throttle plate stuck closed.
MAF sensor failed.
Rail sensor failed.
Various fuses in the engine bay fuse box also feed some of the above components, which if failed could prevent starting. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I thought that if the CPS has failed then it wont even crank. Jules

Nope, it’ll crank but not start. Guess how I know…!

Actually it might depend on the nature of the failure, but it certainly can present as crank but no start.

Could it possibly be the transfer pump in the tank ?? as its showing empty then goes up to full at end of cranking? 2013 FL2 XS.

The fuel gauge actions certainly look dodgy to me but as I have a later FL2 I cannot do a live check.

If it is the tank wiring, which was common on earlier FL2s, then you need to read these threads.
as there is a known repair.

(I also am starting to believe that the OP's previous thread may be related to this problem)

If the ECM thinks the tank is empty, it will prevent starting to prevent damage to the HP side of the fuel system. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I have just checked my 2010 model. With the ignition on the fuel gauge reads correctly. Upon starting the car the fuel gauge remains rock steady and continues to do so once the engine is running.

My fuel gauge reads the volume of fuel in the tank, regardless of cranking over or running. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
