I re-read your thread Badger. Interesting that the code says "over boost" when the turbo was under-boosting. Jules |

Sticking turbo vanes, maybe. The JLR manual explains how to free up the turbo vanes and lubricate the actuator arm. DO NOT move the actuator arm whilst still connected to the actuator motor - the motor mechanism will be damaged (Im guessing its a worm drive, whereby the torque can only be sent in one direction ie to the actuator arm) Jules |

I haven’t had a chance to get the actuator rod checked but I drove the car about ten miles this morning and it felt absolutely normal. No further fault code. I wonder if it was a momentary turbo issue when towing that hasn’t returned when not towing. It’s for MOT on Friday so I think I’ll leave well enough alone until that’s safely accomplished. |

Before investigating the actuator rod I decided to throw some Wynn's Turbo Cleaner in the tank as Wynn's claim it “cleans and frees sticking vanes of the variable turbo”. From what I've read over the last few days it would seem that a momentary overboost when under load, e.g. towing up a hill, is not uncommon, and not just with FL2s. I’ve a decent run to do tomorrow so hopefully the Wynn's will work its magic but in any event, the problem hasn’t returned. However I now have a Bluetooth OBD scanner plugged in and my iPhone app can clear codes. 🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏 |
