When this happened to my mum's FL2 it was because the front brake calipers had partially seized and the brake disks were glowing red hot.

Thank you. Was yours vibrating only when accelerating or all the time. while driving, after it has warmed up? |

It only started when it had warmed up and If i remember correctly, only when accelerating.

The pistons push back not wind as far as I remember. |

Don't the rears with EPB wind in? for the EPB mechanism - I was under the impression pushing them in could/would damage the mechanism. Mine wound back in no problem when I did my rear pads and discs. 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Yes, the fronts push in, although I use a "rewind tool" to push mine in ...... Perhaps it's just a bit of confusion with regards to the words / language used ???? |

Yes this was the case. you can use a clamp or anything to push the piston back in, but I use a windback tool so I used the term "wind". |

The FL2's rear EPB brakes did NOT need a wind back tool. The piston just pushes back without any rotation required. I've used a wind back tool for VAG cars which used the rear disks for the PB via a mechanical lever system which ratchets the pistons via rotation as the pads wear. The FL2's EPB auto adjusts. Make sure the caliper pins are clean and freshly greased, that happened to me once. It looked like I didn't grease them on the last brake job for reasons which elude me (didn't have grease, was in a hurry?).

For those who is having this issue, took 2 months to get a front pair of drive shaft from the UK and replaced them last week, the problem was fixed! The mechanic was quite surprised as they said, there was no movement/no play with the cv joints etc so they ruled out driveshaft but based on what I read in the forum, decided to gamble by importing and replacing it myself and it did work! |
