Air conditioning won't switch off

Hi all. New to this forum and looking for help I can't find answers for anywhere else (and I have been looking for a long time). From reading other posts, I'm hopeful one of you clever people might be able to help.

Last year on an extremely hot day I turned the air con on. When I stopped the car, the sir con continued even with the ignition off, key out and car locked. I took it to a garage (by this time it was only blowing hot air) and they took out a fuse as an interim measure. This obviously switched the blowers off. We have searched for an answer and have bought replacement blower resistors and thought we had sorted it but no such luck. Garages have had a look but failed. Winter was extremely cold in the car and summer isn't great but as we are only doing short journeys, we can cope with windows open. We are going on holiday soon and will be driving some distance and want to try again to fix it. Do any of you beautiful people have any ideas?

Many, many thanks

Sorry. It is a Freelander TD4 2010. Mileage is around 120k. We have had so many problems with it since we bought it foolishly from a guy who knew what he was doing. It is not in the best condition but we have had so many things fixed since getting it. This is one that has confused everyone we have asked.

Could it be as simple as needing a new relay switch? Fingers crossed

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Have you downloaded the Repair and Wiring Diagrams as mentioned in my post in this thread.

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic37258.ht...air+manual

The operation of the Air Conditioning is described in it.

Not had time to read it and look at diagrams myself, but there is a main relay for the compressor clutch, although this and most functions are controlled by the car's electronics and not directly by any switches.

Have you looked to see if you have any fault codes as most functions are monitored? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

What model? Different models use various types for HVAC controls and computers.
Mine is fully automatic (including the AC), so never have to touch it, other than to adjust the temperature to suit my requirements. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone.
2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver.
1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project.
