At £14 to £20 both are probably worth a punt…

… the pair I bought from a well known (three letter engineering) company are less than expected - Real danger of head injury if the tailgate isn’t assisted for the last 100 cm, especially in cooler weather.

I bought a cheap pair for the bonnet, and now it pings upwards quite violently. Definitely better than the old ones, but probably not so well damped as the factory items. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone.
2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver.
1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project.

I bought a genuine Land Rover set. Came in the Land Rover box and sealed Land Rover bag - but unlike the ones I took off, didn't have the Land Rover logo on the actual struts.
Brother bought a set of cheap ones that cost only £7.50 the pair (Ebay and didn't go higher than the opening bid) and they're identical to the ones I bought.

Stabilus is the OEM

The garage that I bought mine from had already replaced the bonnet struts (with Stabilus ones) as part of the PDI process.

Probably trapped the tech doing the PDI Shocked

I replaced the tailgate ones not long after taking delivery as it was winter which makes failing ones even worse...

Just under £30 at the time, Dec '21.

Ebay price is important but the seller rating is King. I will go with the best price with the highest seller rating. You can also select the worst star ratings for the last 6 months and review if the item you want to buy shows up. I am running ebay hood (bonnet) and hatch struts for3+ years and I went with price point and shipping.

Know your lengths.

Got these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233652527817 100% positive when i placed the order now 99.9% (not by me) Just fitted it, very easy to do, amazing how much the old ones had worn, need to step well away when opening it now Laughing
Looked at Advanced Factors and they cost about £10.00 more plus postage, have used then for oil, filters, anti freeze etc. Common sense isn't very common.
