Which Cambelt Kit - Gates or Dayco?

Hi Folks,

I'm looking to get my cambelt and water pump done in the near future, I plan to supply the kit - is it still the case that the Gates kit is recommended? link here - https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/lr032527...9655-p.asp

The Dayco kit is significantly cheaper - here - https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/lr032527...5954-p.asp

Is the Gates just plain better? obviously I don't want to skimp here on quality... but there is a significant price difference.

Anything else worth getting done at the same time?

Many thanks in advance 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

As far as I know Dayco is an OEM for Land Rover.

I've used Dayco auxillary belts, tensioners and idlers in the past with no issues. AF has a good reputation as a supplier too.

Changing the aux belt and its tensioner plus idler at the same time would be no bad thing.

Ive used Gates in the past with no problems, any of the major brands will be fine.

Nothing between them really - I went with Gates and bought from ebay - Gates do have good counterfeit security. Jules

One more for Gate's. Have used them on all our cars. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

I seem to recall that when I was looking to do my cam belt a couple of years ago, the Gates kit had a crank shaft pulley bolt, but the Dayco kit did not........but I have slept since then lol
