I don't think I can give any specific advice but when I find an oil leak the first thing I do is clean it all off with some decent degreaser then keep an eye on it to see where the leak originates from. Once it gets to that state it is probably very difficult to see what is what.

I'd degrease the area then observe for origin of the oil leak Jules |

It could well be No4 injector copper seal has failed, so is letting diesel combined with combustion products past.

The foam is for sound insulation. The fact it looks melted suggests to me that No4 injector seal is letting combustion products out of the combustion chamber, which is both hot and laden with diesel which will dissolve the foam. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Awesome, thank you for the information. Is it a necessity to replace that insulation immediately or something I can get sorted after getting that potential injector leak done? Just trying to think ahead in case it's not a readily available part |

The insulation is just for sound depending, and serves no other purpose. Mine disintegrated years ago, so now I have just the plastic cover, and I suspect I'm not the only one to be missing it. I'm not a fan of foam over an engine anyway, as it's far to easy to catch fire, if an ignition source is nearby. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

To the best of my limited knowledge, that cover is LR038763 Insulator, Fuel Supply. Good luck sorting your leak, and please keep us appraised. |
