Indicator stalk replacement

Hi all, please be kind as it is my first post. Our indicator stalk, left hand one, has become intermittant, and I would like to replace it. Is it simple to do? Was hoping to remove the upper and lower plastic cowls around the steering wheel, not sure how many screws etc and unclip out? Any advice would be appreciated
