Did you hear the steering lock disengage when the key was docked? I'm thinking the lock didn't fully disengage the first time, which will prevent it starting.

From the symptoms you describe, there is another possibility which is the starter motor, or more precisely, the starter motor solonoid

It's actually worth replacing the starter contactor set as a matter of course. They have a life of about 10,000 starts, so will be burnt anyway. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Might be worth checking condition of the battery - low voltage cuases a host of issues wit hhte FL2.

next time it fails to start try tapping the starter with something heavy like a long crow bar or hammer,this usually jogs the worn contacts,if that is the fault,and will confirm that if it turns over,its something we do on road side breakdowns regularly. |
