How often do power steering pumps leak?

I wrapped up replacing the broken alternator this week and am now gonna have to do the belt and pulleys. I think the pulleys are original on this 185k mile i6 (the alternator was also) and they are crusty. Its been leaking oil for a while by the previous owner so not sure what all is leaking but I have a hunch that the power steering pump is as he handed me a can of the special fluid when I bought it.

Is it a common failure point or should I just clean everything, swap the pulleys / belt / waterpump and deal with the power steering later if it is indeed leaking? 1969 Land Rover Series 2a 88

If you disconnect the high pressure line and you don't replace the O-ring then the assembly is know to leak.

Otherwise not it is not a know failure point.

Get a new O-ring and install it and see if it still leaks.
