Completely dead

When to start car, put fob in slot and pressed start, it went completely dead no lights would not undock fob , no interior or exterior lights. Called RAC, by the time I had done that it had sorted itself out. Took it for a drive completely fine. Any ideas why it could just die then come back to life

I suspect that you suffered very low battery voltage, or loss of power completely.

Check Battery and it's connections;

If your Battery is over 3-4 years old it may be worth a change (even if it recovers for a bit)

Worth looking at Battery to Chassis cable and connections.

If you want more help more info about the cars history, etc, will be needed.

Some hints on forming an enquiry here;

All connections are ok so going to change battery, the one that’s in is branded Landrover so it could be quite old. GSF car parts have a “stop start” one at a good price.

Update

Replaced battery, old battery was a genuine Landrover one so no idea how old it was. All seems ok and stop start is now working for first time in 12 months of ownership.
Thanks for all suggestions

The genuine LR battery in my car was an Exide. It was a good battery. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Assuming it was the original battery, at 14 years old it has done well, but Which will put down to a LR breakdown to add to LR's unreliability Laughing my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Look on top of the Battery terminals will show a date of manufacture like 05 14 I replaced my original battery when it was over 8 yrs old and was still good then but did not want to chance it suddenly dying. 2013 FL2 XS.
