My horn sounds a bit dull, will this be just a bad connection or will I need a new one

Never heard anyone complain about the horn before yes check the connections I also suppose there could be water or dirt in the actual horn.

Twin horns behind the grill, one of them has maybe stopped working giving you only 1/2 the sound?

I'd so love one of the compressor types but would struggle to find somewhere to fit it. Can't imagine Mrs Upndown would be too thrilled with the price either? 🤬

The down side with compressor on demand horns is a delayed sound output, as the compressor needs to spin up to supply enough air for the horns to start sounding.
I much prefer the instant response of an electromechanical horn. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I only use the compressors mainly for the tyres & have an air tank. The tank is great between tyres. The compressors fire up when pressure drops to 120psi & turn off at 135psi. About 15 seconds to fill 4L tank & airlines from first start.

I can set the regulator to any psi but leave it on at least 135psi to get air in the tyres as quick as possible.

If leaving the system pressurised long term as for air horns, use a check valve to reduce stress on compressor/s itself but maintain pressure in the tank/s.

If you want to fire the air horns longer, you either need a bigger tank or tanks, or you need to parallel more compressors to maintain both volume & pressure. The tank will lose useful pressure very quickly, so you need a much larger tank or increase volume of compressors. That's why I added a third compressor for the tyres as it was the volume of continuous air, although not that long, that the tyres needed. Typically settling at 115psi.

3 ARB compressors typically use 90 amps at the higher end of pressure before pressure switch cuts off at 135psi.

The ARB graph shows the volume/pressure/amps relationship. Also factor in air line loses, about 1% per metre both air line hose & electrical, also for each connector as a rough estimate.

P.S. I'm quite happy with the Freelander's horn.

Just some ideas for DIY if you need to send a touch bigger message!
