Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
Bell Engineering

2010 Freelander2 HSE Auto 123k miles.
As part of my bucket list I booked the LR factory tour, really good.
Also being this far down from Scotland I also booked a Haldex service with Bell.
0900 today at Bell. First thing Austen did was take the car for a drive and came back with the “good” news the diff was noisy. Yes I had experienced a slight noise but just thought it’s a Landrover. Not too bad and could possibly last a bit yet.
Anyway, bit the bullet. New diff and service and £780 out of pocket.
What a difference,so quiet.
If I had let it go how much would it have been back at home.
All done in 3 hours. Plus loan of courtesy FL1 auto to drive round in. I used Bell because of lots of input on this site and others. Top praise from me.
Now even poorer Scottish person. Jim A

Few firms can match Bell Engineering and Austen is of the old school, knows what he is talking about and does a great job, second to none. Common sense isn't very common.

Another vote of confidence for Bell Engineering.
I visited them last week for a rear diff change. Austin reconfirmed he felt it was a well worn rear diff and just 1hr 15mins later I was driving away with a new diff and Haldex service. I cannot believe how quiet the rear of the car now is. I have 106k miles on the clock and have put up with rear end noise for many of those miles. Incredible service and well worth every penny.

Bell engineering serviced my haldex but he nicked and damaged the oring on the pump on reinstallation.
Leaked all the the way home and I noticed it a few days later.

Didnt cause any damage as it was a small drip and Austen was very helpful in sending me some new o rings and talking me through how to fit them (there are two and one is slightly larger in diameter than the other)

Good guy who stands by any mistakes and errors he makes, unlike some other less trustworthy garages Evil or Very Mad

There was a club discount available when I made my booking so I would say it’s worth checking with them if this is still available.
With this discount I paid £700 for the diff, fitting and Haldex service. I think it would have been £780 without the discount.
