The car is randomly losing power when driving. It is also occasionally idling with a strange variance.

It will drive fine for 300km then randomly this will happen. When it happens I switch it from "Drive" to "manual mode" I am able to regain some power and drive in "S" or by changing gears. It's dangerous when I'm on the freeway and all of a sudden I can only go 20km/per hr..

On a few occasions I have had the "reduced engine performance" error come up. My mechanic has advised that no faults have come up on his detector. He changed the fuel filter but that has not helped. A call to the dealership is a 3+ week wait + $$$$ I cannot afford.

Anything I can pass onto my mechanic would be greatly appreciated.

Mine was the EGR playing up throwing "reduced performance" messages. I had it removed from the ECU and blanked it off just before Covid struck. Problem solved ever since. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE
