Ralfk - I am sure you meant well by trying to confuse us with your technical knowledge. However you do seem to have got a bit confused yourself. Shocked
Please read this for a correct explanation of what Stainless Steel is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stainless_steel

To all others that were confused - Stainless Steel (that does not rust) is used for exhaust systems on motor cars - for the simple reason they wont rust (externally) Shocked .

A two year old Land Rover with a rusty exhaust means in laymans terms IT AINT STAINLESS - which is a f Censored g annoyance since my last cars exhaust, a BMW, never had any problems with rust in over 7-years of driving on salt covered winter roads. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Wake up snappa Shocked Stainless Steel does not rust Rolling Eyes as gold, silver, bronze, aluminium does not rust Yawn

The original thread was about mucky window rubbers which in my mind just as pointless but which our Site Moderator didn’t agree with me – so it’s only two of us on the whole forum that thinks it’s a pointless thread Rolling Eyes

My original comments about exhaust pipe polishing was meant as a slightly sarcastic comparison of the silly original - somebody else seemed that it was worth more than that and now there just two of us that think polishing your exhaust pipe is pointless.

However maybe Mr. Pinks wants to split the two threads as it seems to have developed into what our rusting exhaust systems are manufactured of Question 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Split the threads as requested my Mr C.

Maybe its not S/Steel so it may rust, Maybe it is S/Steel and it not rust it tarnich through a chemical reaction.

My s/steel knives and forks have small indents in them from a chemical reaction whilst going through the dishwasher where one item has been touching the other Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

does not rust AS EASILY as ordinary steel Rolling Eyes
