As I've said before gearboxes are common to many cars and makes, it really depends on who wants to trash a car's or manufacturer's reputation, the other point is that volume production alters the percentages so a car with high production fitted with a low number of auto boxes sold becomes apparently more reliable, most LR's have a high percentage of auto boxes. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

While you may see the exact same components used in 2, 3, 4 different makes, they are *not* necessarily the same in quality.

Each manufacturer will have their own tolerance on quality and failure rates, and will agree a price with the component manufacturer that is based on a commensurate level of quality assurance, as well as on volumes purchased.

So if Brand A wants a 99.9% quality rate, they will pay more per unit (assuming equal volumes) than Brand B, who are happy with a 97.5% quality rate. All off the same production line, but the degree of pre gate-release testing is much higher on those going to Brand A.

It happens for everything from home printers to interior trim clips to gearboxes. Current driveway contents:
2021 V60 Cross Country B5
2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon

On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid.

In the 1970s my parents bought a new Lancia. We were all in the car, less than a kilometre down the road the gearbox failed. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The same with home entertainment units. TVs, RADIOs, SOUND SYSTEMS, CAMERAs etc. for those it all depends on the supplier. DAVE.

Like everything in life if something is a lot cheaper then an equivalent somewhere else there has to be a reason, it just what those reasons are.

No, filters are expressly forbidden from this quality management approach. It's article 47b of the Zygon Treaty. Wink Current driveway contents:
