Possibly dpf problem

My FL2 has possibly got a problem with the DPF. The reduce performance notification popped up, i had it diagnosed and it came back with dpf low level pressure fault. This is what happens when driving of from cold the car will do between 2 and 4 miles then goes into reduced performance. I stop the car i wait exactly 1 minute the restart and the car is fine no issues at all. then car then will drive perfect for as far as i want to drive it. has anyone else experienced this ?
The garage has suggested to have the DPF cut out cost about £350 im not keen on this, has anyone else had it done ?
I have found a garage fairly local who says they will check and investigate the system by filling it with smoke to check for leaks the fee is £90 assuming no leaks found a DPF clean can be done £250 plus vat. Has anyone experience of this ?
Alternative is a new DPF cost unkown probably loads, and if the car does have another fault thats un detected then im likely to get same problem again in a short time.

Would this not be an instant MOT failure with the DPF removed? 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 Manual Dynamic

Yes it would and thats why i am not keen, but apparently they cut the top off the box remove dpf then weld it back up, which cant be seen once refitted

Seems a bit of a bodge job.

I would be very wary of letting that garage anywhere near my car.

Have you got the fault codes from the diagnosis? Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

Until they see all the smoke coming from the exhaust pipe on start up.
Remember how smokey cold diesels were before DPFs Jules

It could be just a split pressure sensor hose, or even a faulty pressure sensor.
What are the codes?

I would be reporting this garage to the relevant authorities. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

The amount of soot in DPF is calculated by comparing the pressure before and after DPF.
For this there are some small hoses that lead to a pressure differential sensor.
Those hoses, during time, tend to break under the action of temperature variations.
Check those.

Also check for Special Service Message 46057 and Service Action Q120.

Thanks Alex.

This is a valuable piece of information.

As the DPF keeps coming up, and is often quoted as a major problem of owning 'DPF' cars, do you know if similar problems occurred outside the quoted VIN (number) range.

PS we really do need a system where all owners are informed of modifications/known errors, and manufacturers made liable for production/safety problems of vehicles for (say) 10 years after purchase.

By doing so, it should remove the necessity to bodge. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

My car is not bodged and never will be bodged and is looked after and maintained at all times.
I was asking if any member has experience of the problem i have.
As what has been suggested maybe a split hose and hopefully an easier/cheaper fix.
I dont have the fault code as i didnt ask for it, i have booked the car in to a Freelander specialist hopefully they will be able to sort it out for me.
Just to update i took the car out on Friday and it was perfect the reduced performance message didnt come on at all.
