P0087 and P0088 errors

Hi.

When doing mainly long journeys the car can feel as if it has a judder and then goes into limp home mode.

sometimes it's fine after a minute other times it's proper limp home mode and sometimes turning the engine off and on again resets it fine, others it goes on for 20 miles before a stop / start will reset it.

I have plugged an OBD connector in and installed software on my pad that says it is having Poo87 low pressure errors and the occasional high pressure errors.

I posted it in techincal and should have probably posted it in maintenance and mods so reposting it here Smile

I've changed fuel filter so it's not that. Was doing it before and after.

Read some stuff about the battery having a very small chance of effecting the sensors. the battery seems to be the original one and getting old 7.5 years and it's never worked with stop/start for me. So i'm getting a new battery for it this week.

But on the highly likely chance the battery has nothing to do with this. Where do i go next. Is it trial and error starting on replacing the cheaper parts leading up to the fuel pump. So change sensors first see if that fixes it, if not then is there a pressure valve that can be changed? then look at the fuel pump itself. It doesn't seem to be the fuel pump as it's not consistent and can go 1,000 miles fine before it plays up again.

usually pumps from my understand start failing and don't get better, and then intermittent in the same way once a pump goes, it goes.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Extra earth lead as well as a new battery would be my next move. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Cheers.

Bit of a daft question but where from, and directly to the battery? 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS

Mine being facelift MY13 does not need the mod but lots done them and written it up so I would use the search button but basically from the battery earth to near the starter. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Other members with similar problems have found issues with a choked fuel filter. Replace only with genuine parts as some cheaper filters have caused poor running issues. If that does not improve things I would be looking at the fuel rail pressure sensor as being the possible culprit. Hope this helps!

I'll try the extra earth wire with the new battery, and after that. If it still happens then it looks like it's the fuel rail pressure sensor. 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS

Before you go off buying expensive parts I think it would be worth having the codes read professionally No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

I thought the stop-start models had the additional earth lead from new? Pretty sure mine does. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Just cleared after replacing the battery.

Seems there were a few issues others reported where just new batteries solved them 2010 Freelander2 TD4_e GS
