Hi all. Hope everyone is well. Simple job proved difficult. Trying to replace front lower wishbones. Stuck for the moment in seized front bolt that is the torx one that goes through the chassis leg. Haven't tried heat yet but have tried and destroyed a couple of chrome van sockets with torx bits on the end of a 2x foot breaker bar. Ordered a 3x foot breaker bar plus impact torx bit with 1/2" fitting. Also made a dish shape with plastercine above and puddled wd40 in it to let it seep around the bolt. Anybody got any advice ? Perhaps I need to eat more red meat ! |

Heat it up with a blow torch then spray penetrating oil as it cools the oil will get sucked in.

I had trouble with these two bolts. The first one needed a four foot scaffold tube on the two foot breaker bar. With the second one I rounded the torx hole and had to have a garage weld a larger nut to the bolt.

DeWalt DCF899 will do the trick. 950NM, it spun mine out in seconds. Astonishing ability to rattle out a stuck bolt without damaging the bolt head, I've used mine on some bolts that looked like they had been in the sea since D-Day and it just pulls them out. Current driveway contents:

Thanks for all the advice. I'll see how I get on with heat etc. Failing that I can see me purchasing DeWalt DCF899. |
