Looks great. I did this to mine last year using halfords Anthracite grey. Very pleased with mine, so sure you will be happy with yours.

The lacquer is flaking off on the middle section of my grill - looks a mess - but been like it a few years now - not sure how to go about repainting as the flaky lacquer will leave marks Im sure.
I did wonder about dismantling the grill into its various components by melting the welded joins (IIRC it was on this forum somewhere) and using paint stripper to remove all the lacquer but never got around to it.
Any suggestions ?

PS Good job with that gloss black. Jules

Good job 👍
Have you completely masked over the chrome coloured strip around the sides and bottom?
Mine could do with that trim being replaced with one of powerfuluk's adhesive versions. Show us the finished results when it's all back together Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I had this on mine, i used 2000 grit wet sand paper to smooth the flaking lacquer. Probably 10 mins to do the whole strip. Then primer/paint/lacquer and you cant see that there was any problems.

My spray man was fairly adamant that he did not want to spray mine.
He's sure it will be full of stone chips within a few months, DAVE.

When I bought my Freelander last November, I was having trouble getting a facelift bumper and grill, so I ordered a grill from Ali express. The time for delivery from China was 3 months, and to be honest I even forgot I had ordered it, as I did get one from E Bay. And today after painting my 2nd hand grill, it arrived. Im very impressed with the quality. The only thing is they didn't have a black one so I got silver.

How have you ordered just a grille? Is it not all part of the front bumper assembly? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Painted the wires grill back in July last year preface lift but instead of using sand paper to rub it down I used scotchbrite keys it up nicely and its a lots easier to get into the nock and crannies
