You can reach down from the top. Stand directly in front of the car and take a look down slightly off to your left (drivers side) and you will see the housing and the 27mm hex end. If you use a flexi-head ratchet spanner you can take if off without going in from underneath. Current driveway contents:

Pointless changing the filter and not the oil so you have to remove the sump guard to drain the oil out from underneath.

I suppose you can suck the oil out with a Pela pump but its a slow job. Jules |

I was going to buy one of those pumps and drain the engine oil from the top, the reason beig, at 69 yrs old i am a bit stiff and creaky for crawling underneath, my ld bones ache enough as it is lol. |

If you're going to be pumping the old oil out, just keep in mind that you can't get it all out.

Its not that bad I am 68 and can do it if you drive it up on ramps lie on your back if you have a "creeper" even better undo the eight or so 12mm bolts and remove plate then the sump plug this way you get ALL the old oil and any other crap out. Thanks for your replies guys. I haven't got any ramps, but I do have axle stands, so I suppose i can do it that way. I will give it a go, Its a 2009 with 133k on the clock, so I dont think it would benefit from a flush, what do you think? and I will use fully synthetic oil. ROMMEL and thank you for your FEAR NAUGHT.. are you a Vet? |
