Winter caravanning

Away for a few days using the caravan while son 2 competes at a swimming gala in Dublin. Wasn't confident that I'd even get it out on the road, as our up hill snow and ice covered lane leads to an uphill snow and ice covered c class road. Needn't have worried, the terrain response and new AT tyres made it simple. Arrived and set up last night to discover the caravan water pump frozen, dipped to -5 c last night. Easy enough to remove pump and defrost it in front of the heater, while my wife was muttering about booking into a hotel. Laughing All working again and van is now cozy

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Firenze Red

Just back from a few very frosty days in Cheshire & off again for Christmas to York - we take the pump inside overnight. Had a frozen solid blue hose one year… it more than doubled in diameter over its entire length, stretching the hose walls tissue paper thin. It had to go in the bin as it never returned to its original diameter.

Nowadays we deploy 15mm pipewrap if on serviced pitches in winter Laughing

Sounds good, never actually done Christmas but did plenty of new years trips in previous years. Modern caravans with decent heating and insulation make it cozy. Enjoy your trip and post some photos. πŸ‘
