United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Sumatra Black
Hello new to Freelander

A quick hello , I'm due to pick up a 2014 Metropolis this weekend .Previously owns Discovery 2 . This will be my first at owing a Freelander so hopefully it will be a good experience. I still own my Nanocom not sure if I should sell it or keep it for the Freelander. The Vehicle is currently having the cambelt and water pump replaced at a LR specialist before I collect it. Is there anything I need to know ? I hear that out of the LR stable they are one if not the most reliable LR. Thanks again.

Hello and welcome Very Happy
Great vehicles and very capable. Keep on top of usual maintenance and use genuine filters and quality oil and it should repay you with reliability. As i write this i realise there are those who will say you don't need genuine, but you have brought the best model (best wheels Thumbs Up ) so why skimp on non-genuine filters which if you service it yourself you will only pay around £100-150 (including oil) for this yearly task.
Enjoy and hope for some snow soon Thumbs Up

Hi
FYI
LR's service intervals for the haldex unit are inadequate resulting in premature haldex failure. This can be largely avoided if it is serviced in line with other haldex users eg VAG cars and also Volvo.
It should be noted that although there is a replaceable filter there is also a cleanable filter on the end of the haldex pump which requires the pump to be removed. This latter filter service is not usually part of the haldex service. Jules

Welcome
The Metro is a very nice motor, inside and out, and a joy to drive.
Just make sure that it is serviced regularly by someone reliable and don't meddle (without first reading and understanding any fault codes) as it's a complicated beast.
Hopefully you have some kind of warranty and will ask for proper parts and correct oils to be used.

Touch Wood - mine has done over 60k miles, and has been JLR Dealer maintained, on schedule, and has no real faults.

A 2014 should have had the timing belt changed already, so if it's not been done, what else has been missed?
Have all the fluids changed too for the above reasons. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Thank you for the Helpful information. The vehicle doesn't come with a full size spare . If I get a spare wheel , Jack ect what do I need to do to get the cars TPMS to see the spare ? Thank you.

Here is the link to my very first post to the forum for help.

(I arrived with a problem as lots do and received immediate helpful advice - a retrospective big thank you)

You will see all I did was to buy a TPMS valve, get it fitted to a 2nd hand spare wheel, fit it on car and after a short drive it was working. It required no action from me.

I have been running my Metro for 5 years and have not had any TPMS (or their batteries) faults.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for replying, I've now picked up the Metro and very impressed with it an absolutely massive jump from the D2. I have one more question to ask. It has a tow bar fitted but with no secondary electrics, I've seen that the 7 pin plug goes back to a big grey plug in the N/s/r what do I need to fit the secondary socket? And is it plug and play ?
Many thanks .
Stu

Yes, newer cars are plug & play. I swapped the 7 pin on my car for a 13 pin euro socket. Genuine LR kit was £150.

One thing I've noticed is that one shot window closing is only working on the N/S/F window. So when I press and hold unlock all the windows go down, but pressing and holding the lock button on the fob only sends up the n/s/f window 🤷‍♂️

Windows might need resetting, ign on hold both front switches in the up position for about 15 seconds then try see if it works, if not might be a dodgy switch? 2013 FL2 XS.

If successful you should hear a muted clonk as well.
