I thought I'd post this while CG is away, But I need a tow bar as I have to move a 1000kg fire escape stair case from derby to Cumbria, I have access to a trailer but need a towbar fitting.

Looked at LANDROVER originals and the removable one (as I don't want people to think I'm one of you gastly caravanners) does not fit with the sports styling kit and the others obviously jut out.

SO does anyone know whether i could cut a bit out of the sports kit to facilitate the quick release lever??
The fella at the dealer wouldn't be drawn on the subject.

is the towing situation a one off? or is it through work etc

If so have you priced a towing company to do the trip for you instead of a towbar as fitting one isn't going to be cheap Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I'm moving an heavy item I've bought off ebay-can borrow a trailer but the place is only open Mon-Fri and every one I know with a tow bar works Mon-Fri.

Tried pricing a tow bar but gonna be over £300 quid.

what sort of time scale are you looking at for the move

Not sure on driving licences, but what sized truck could you drive

Salford Van Hire does a 7.5tonne flat back for £60 to £70 a day

It needs pickin up this week,

The Stairs are 15ft long and lay on there side are 3ft high.

Thats the trouble with a 7.5 tonner-The height, it will be fork lifted on then manually dragged off at my end.

Hiring a 7.5 ton flat bed from Salford van hire (Cheers Nick) and Local farmer (not CG) coming up with his forklift tractor thingy to unload it.

I asked all the local hire places Enterprie 1car1 and even Salford van hire none have vehicles that have tow bars,
A tranny van with a twin axle trailer on will use as much fuel as a 7.5tonner and its only £60 plus vat (salford) local place wanted £90 for a lwb spinter.

i hope your going to cut the arms of your t-shirt and have a spray tan done on your right arm to be a proper trucker for the day
