Interesting about insurance costs. I have a holiday home in Europe (Estonia) where I run a 2004 Ford Focus C-Max Ghia. Full comp insurance on 6000kms pa. Any driver over 25 with permission of owner - excludes collisions with wild life (deer, moose, wolves and bears!) —————- 95 Euros! If you want insurance for that it’s 500E extra - but not many people take it if you live in towns. Insurance in the UK is a bloody RIP OFF. Just been quoted £700+ by Land Rover insurance - full comp 7000 miles pa with full No Claims, aged 66, retired, one sp30 in 20 years of driving and one accident ( not my fault). Rip off. 2015 Freelancer 2 SETech TD4 manual

Update!
Just insured via Churchill on their ‘plus’ product via money supermarket £292 inc courtesy car, full no claims, protected no claims, £200 excess, legal cover, one minor speeding and 1 historic no fault accident. I had been with A-Plan since 2006 - 16 years - and they still wanted almost £600 a year with a £405 excess and said they couldn’t do for any less -100% more!! Was worth doing some investigations.

2015 model SE Tech in Orkney Grey. Love it!

Yep, Churchill was my choice this year, so much cheaper and that “plus” policy is excellent it appears. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

This year's renewal notice just in - up £90 on last year.

A quick 'you can do one' and as if by magic, it instantly dropped to £13 lower than last year. I have stayed put for another year.

In these straitened times, it really isn't the right time to take the Censored with insurance renewals. Shocked

Side Note…
On GoCompare I found 41 insurers offering lower than my last year premium with 6 of them Defaqto 5★ Rated:

◼︎ The very cheapest 5★ was DialDirect at £222.80 fully loaded with all the options

◼︎ The cheapest 3★ was £200.35 from Bank of Scotland (excludes legal and breakdown cover)

Insurance companies are used to people looking for a discount - so they give one, but only after they have first added it to the price quoted on the renewal notice.

In recent years I’ve taken legal cover separately through Driver Guardian, cheaper than taking as an add-on to the motor insurance

What happened to the thread's original title? It is now just 2/3rds of an ellipsis… Question Question Question
