Dehumidifier traps

I have two traps under the front seats of my 2010 HSE auto. Transferred from my D1and D2.
Now, car is bone dry. Carpets etc all dry but once a month I have to empty them, dry them out and refill with crystals.
No leaks from roof light. Just annoying .
Anybody any ideas where water is coming from?
Up till now don,t even have the heater on most days.
Car is not used everyday and sits under carport. Jim A

Carpet shouldn't get wet as it is artificial. If you pull out the vents under the seats (they push back in self locating), then put your hand down the gap but towards the rear, that is the lowest point, is there water?

Is the air conditioning drain hose off, broken or blocked?

Do you always run the air conditioning when you drive?

Could the moisture be due to environmental humidity & condensation? Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Rommel, thanks for the info.
Light water, I live in Scotland, air con is almost never on.
We do get a lot of rain.
Will check the vents,
Thanks. Jim A

If you leave the climate control on auto, then the AC runs to keep the cabin dry and windows mist free. Thumbs Up Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I love seeing people driving down the road with windows all misted up - especially in cars you know will have air con fitted.
Leave it on all year round, and as stated above, enjoy the benefits of clear windows and dry air without moisture all year round.

I thought that it was not a good idea to only use the the AC infrequently as the seals are then more prone to leak.

I leave mine on all year., Jules

I know you lot are a bunch of tight arses up there, but you have the same humidity problems as Sydney.

You will spend less money leaving the AC on than buying desiccant dehumidifiers.

AC is great in summer & winter.

My first car didn't have AC & I installed an after market unit. Still to this day it was the best AC, it would freeze the nuts off a brass monkey & mummify the passengers! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Some light misting on the inside of the glass is not uncommon at this time of year as long as it isn`t running with big beads of water which would point to a leak somewhere. These traps will pull a surprising amount of moisture out the air so I wouldn`t be overly worried if you have an inch or so of water in them after a month or so!

Climate control on constantly, temperature settings rarely altered summer or winter. Never wear a coat while I’m driving and never have misted windows or damp carpets.

If there is misting of the windows, then the AC isn't working, or the ECO button on the climate control is pressed.
There's a humidity sensor in the rear view mirror which measures interior humidity, and adjusted the AC compressor and blender flaps to minimise fogging.
I live in the Southwest, and never have any dampness in my SE, as I leave the climate control to manage the interior air. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Thanks for all the interesting comments. I do know the benefits of using the climate control settings and using air on. Just don,t use it all the time. When SWMBO is in the car I usually set the temp to 21 and let it do it’s own thing. She feels the cold after a stroke a few years ago and really gets the benefits of the heated seat.
Each to his own. Just wondered where the water could be coming from.
Great bunch of helpful people on here. Thanks Jim A

As I do not drive my Defender or Freelander everyday I also use static dehumidifiers in them. They are excellent in deepest dankest Wales. I usually hang one of the coat hanger versions on to the dog guard and it last about 5 months.

Thumbs Up

The air conditioner will condense up to about a litre of water per hour. So it is important that the air conditioning drain is functioning properly.

When we sleep in the car while camping the windows fogged up, water ran down everywhere including some of the trim panels, the colder it was outside, & that was simply sleeping, I would hate to think the moisture levels younger people people create on the windows alone.

It is staggering just how much water we add to the air breathing in a relaxed state let alone during hard exercise, like cleaning the inside of the car.

In Sydney at the ocean in winter we get down to 5°C over night. Because Australia doesn't know what double or triple glazing is, we have pools of water inside on the window sills. A have mopped up a cup of water per window. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
