Key fob receiver

I only recently purchased a 2010 Freelander and have not been in a position to lock and unlock doors
went to lock yesterday and had several attempts at loocking , eventually worked
On attemping to unlock it would not work and had to enter by door handle lock
Can it be the rechargable battery in key fob or the antenna receiver faulty ?

Have you tried your other key fob?
Does it lock/unlock via using the interior dashboard buttons?
How good is the cars main 12v battery?

I would guess that it is most unlikely to be the key fob receiver.
The FOB's range/effeteness does fall as the fob battery gets older and needs replacing.

PS I have just reread your post and realised it is an earlier key docking FL2, so it may be the Fob is low on charge and needs inserting and a quick run around in car. - Although most of the above applies. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)

(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

The key fob battery only charges while it's in the key dock, and then only if the fob is inserted buttons upwards.
If the spare has remained unused for a long time, then it's possible for the battery to go flat, which means it won't send the open signal to the receiver in the car. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I have just ordered two key fobs that have replaceable batteries 2032s in them. That should make things easier than having soldered in batteries

Someone on ebay was selling them. I managed to grab one before they sold out, so I searched found and ordered another two from Aliexpress. They are programmable using the Autel AP200

The photos of the fob in the link posted looks nothing like my 2010 fob. Can't comment on later versions. I don't think the 2032 batteries will be 're chargeable. Think you could be barking up the wrong tree...... Good luck, please let us know how you get on.

Grimdog. I wonder how is your keyfob different, is it the case or the internals, The 2032 batteries are not rechargeable, they are replaceable and the firmware still works after replacement.

Some confusion here I think. The OP said his car is 2010, same as mine. My fob doesn't have the hazard button shown on your image Chips. Mine is the rechargeable version same as OP.

I see what you mean now. Interesting the pre 2010 fob doesn't have the panic alarm button, didn't know that.

I believe the panic button is model specific.
My 2009MY SE has 5 buttons on the fob, one of them being the red triangle panic button.
