The Black D4 presumably has some form of lift but the Defender is in its access height, I believe it just arrived at the dealers somewhere in the US.

Must be the PiVi system that allowed it to roll and roll, jump and roll and end up on it's wheels pointing in the correct direction for the flow of traffic.
Not a feature I will be trying out.

One wonders if an ordinary car would have flipped at all or just spun around; the inherent instability of SUVs at speed I wonder.

yes ESC are great safety improvements and have pretty much stopped SUVs from rolling over by themselves when just cornering fast.

But from what I've read the vast majority of on-road rollovers are caused by the vehicle hitting something or, as is this case, being hit by something. In which case I suggest SUVs are more prone to rolling.

Having said that modern monocoque SUVs do better than cars in front and rear end collisions - size does matter. Jules
