The wheel speed sensor is used for ABS and other things like traction control.

Another thought... if for some reason the car was powered on with a caliper removed, the ABS might have failed a POST. In that case there should be a code of some sort for that, and it should be able to be reset with a scantool now that the caliper is installed. |

Are you saying changing the pads caused the warning lights to appear ? The question then is what did he break as there is no need to mess with cables or sensors when you change the pads ?- its a very straight forward process - page 426 of freebie JLR workshop manual. Jules |

Check for starters the front ABS sensor cable connectors. Both for connection and corrosion of the pins |

Yes, if the system cannot see the wheel speed (on any wheel) it will de-activate ABS, traction control, etc. |

I agree with everyone else - The Brake Sensor, Wiring, or Connector, must have been damaged or disturbed during Brake Pad change. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011) FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015) Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History (Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?) |
