2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black

Fantasy Economy

Can anyone beat this:

This was after filling up and almost coasting down a 2 mile gentle slope. Soon plummeted to 30mpg once I went up the other side of the valley.
But seriously.... I was getting slightly disappointing economy and mentioned this to the dealer on a recent visit. They updated the firmware (always with the firmware) which was a response to customer comments of poor economy. So far, I'd estimate I'm getting a 10% improvement.
So if you're languishing in the low 30's on a run I suggest you ask the dealer for the latest ECU map.

I doff my cap to you sir!
This presents a challenge though. I live about 3 miles from the longest continual gradient in England. Over 5 1/2 miles rising nearly 1000ft. Let's see if there's another decimal place on the display!

I asked my dealer about my low mpg. Said i was getting same as him. i have had them look at it a long time ago which did nothing

Well my remapped FL2 is still 'stuck' @ 39.9 mpg after 3,000 miles of combined 'local' rural trips and long motorway trips (280 miles return). Average 80-ish on M-way and overtake the odd 'flat-cap' on the back roads so not driven in a manner designed to promte low fuel consumption.

The extra 25 BHP is cool but no amount of tuning will get a FL2 round a bend at any pace so nowhere near as important as the increase in economy. New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC

2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Rimini Red

Just got back from towing down to carcassonne and back 2400 miles towing a 1450 kg van and 400 miles solo. average 23.1 mpg. the 2 bikes on the top and the new roof mounted caravan aircon not helping with the aerodynamics

Down in Narbonne the outside temp was 32and the unit kept the van inside at 18. I was amazed that it would work with only 6 amp electric but it only uses 2 amps with a surge to about 3 amps on startup.
It came into its own when we moved up to the Dordogne as the humidity is the killer there and it nicely dehumidified the van
Also it acts as a 700 watt fan-heater to warm up on a cold morning.

I wish we had the diesels here.

From what I understand they will be introduced in 2011 or 2012.

i know which one i would buy

When the new RRS Supercharged has 500bhp and will do 0mph - 100mph - 0mph faster than the old one would do 0 - 100mph But at £64k i doubt i will have one

That and those sort of speed will be no good for towing my caravan in front of CG Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

i think 999.9 is the maximum. i work at a dealer in yorkshire and have many hills to my disposal, if you stick it in neutral you get even better! they all do that!

Can you recommend any sites in the Dordogne with decent road / site access. We stayed at Les Peneyrals last year and fancied a change.
