There are a number of state cars that don't carry number plates, the two state Bentley's, the newest of the fleet, two RR Phantom VI's, I think there are two Phantom V's then there was an earlier Phantom IV with Lucas P100 headlights this car apparently has optional plates depending on its use, I think maybe it did when used to convey H & M at their wedding but lost them for the funeral. For some reason the King has been using one of the P VI's since the Queen died but Princess Anne used one of the Bentley's to travel from Balmoral to Edinburgh. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

with regard to the original post, yes indeed on the MOT page things get a bit weird, but on the other page where you check the road tax, it says for both 'Vehicle details could not be found'

I was working at Millbrook once when one of the state Bentleys was on its shakedown runs, they are massive beasts and feel more like trucks than cars when standing alongside. BTW they left it unlocked outside the workshop when they went for lunch at the canteen Regards David Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me...... Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again...... |

The cars are probably not insured either. I used to work for a very large company. They didn't insure the fleet of cars as it was far cheaper to have the cars & trucks uninsured based on the long term cost of accidents. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Companies of any size with a large fleet of vehicles usually “self insure” with a bond.

The royals don't have insurance and can claim crown immunity if they get nicked. Anyway they don't care because the tax payer pays.

The company I worked for self insured, our fleet was 2000+ Buses. It was done through an insurance brooker though. As I recall we did have an excess of £250,000. It was quite complicated as a big proportion of the fleet was leased via big banking companies. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep

Ditto here to the above post, except that we have our own insurance company to cover our very substantial fleet. Comes in handy as we're covered on every company vehicle whether on duty or not, the latter simply requiring the company's approval with an ops manager. |
