Hi
I have been told that there is available the JLR Workshop manual for the Freelander as a download on the site. Could someone point me to it please

Thanks for that. Much better than Haynes. I now have a fuller understanding of the in tank pump and the fueling system.

Called at the garage that are trying to sort my F2. They have now concluded that the in tank pump is faulty. It is a genuine LR pump that was put in last year and has done less than 10,000 miles. The pump is running but nothing being pumped.

As the garage is the same one that fitted the pump they are chasing LR for a warranty replacement but LR are already saying its not likely to be a faulty pump??

Has anone else had a pump fail so soon?

Hi, I had trouble priming one of our FL2's. After much wading through peoples thoughts, I found that the tank pump only shifts fuel from one side to the other over the propshaft hump. So if the fuel stops at half a tank full, then look there. The high pressure fuel pump on the engine draws fuel upwards out of the tank, so needs a vacuum proof suction pipe from tank to filter. (front of engine). Ford, in their engines, have a low pressure lift pump in some applications, so one can get confused. The tank has a wiring loom that can give trouble, and sometimes the heat off of the exhaust will melt the wire from tank to ECU if it is too close to it, or abrade through against the heat shield. The pump running is not related to it pushing fuel to the engine. Force fuel through the filter to prime the system, even cracking the injector pipes to be sure that fuel is at the injectors. LR say not to, but I have had no problems doing it, just be aware of the pressure, and only do it when the engine is not running. Once the engine is running, it will draw fuel until the tank is empty. I would also check that you do not have a hole in the fuel pipes where they run past the pulleys on the righthand side of the engine. It is easy to displace them and get them to rub throught on the engine pulley when the Cambelt is changed. Take the offside under wing covers off to check. If the temperature sensor in the tank wiring loom is faulty it stops the ECU reading fuel needs correctly.
