Northern Introductory Training Day/Weekend – Late Summer

The DISCO3 gang are hoping to have another day of basic off road training at the end of the Summer - would be superb if we could get some Freelander 2s along. Here's the deal:

With the help of 10forcash, I’m hoping to put together some plans and arrangements for a day (or weekend) of basic introductory training, similar to the ‘Late June’ event being discussed in another thread, but for those further North.
We wouldn’t be looking to have the event until much later on in the Summer (August) or, if dates are causing issues, September - hopefully giving enough warning and allowing other events such as Billing to pass.

Purpose:

• Chiefly, the event would be a gentle introduction to off road driving for those who are still beginners to it.
• Also, it would be good to attract some more developed drivers who could come along and enjoy the event.
• It would also allows owners to practise their off road skills.
• Social – put some faces to their names if you haven’t already!

Who and Where:

• We’re looking to hold the weekend in a Northern area of England, in order to attract those who are often unable to attend the events held further down south. I’m happy to locate nearby hotels and Guest Houses for those interested.
• Please brainstorm any ideas you may have of areas which would be suitable for holding the event.
o Ideas so far have been Parkwood in Tong (near Leeds), Northumberland, Yorkshire Dales/North Yorkshire Moors etc…

When:

• This is the difficult bit – find a time that can suit most people. As I’ve said, a day in August would be good – although we’re quite busy then due to holidays so I guess other people may be too! The event could be pushed backwards into September if it fitted more people. It could be held on a single day, or if people would rather have 2 days of driving (if you’ve travelled a long way and want to make a weekend out of it, for example) then a weekend could perhaps be arranged.
• I would like to be able to suggest a provision date in due course, and we'll be able to see who can attend.

No arrangements are set in stone – far from it actually! But if you are a beginner or are interested in a day/weekend of off road driving in some beautiful Northern scenery, please indicate your potential interest in the “sign-up” above to give an idea of numbers and to gauge interest. You’re not actually signing up to anything here!!

The latest on the event is that we'll go to Parkwood Off Road Centre near Tong, West Yorkshire.
This would be booked and arranged by "cotefarmboy" from the DISCO3 forum.
