Are they causing an issue with something else, or you just want rid of them because they are in the way? Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !

Yes but they will leave holes, and could even upset the stereo system. If you don't need them, just don't use them. I use mine often, actually 3 times today alone. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. Ok, so long story short, I couldn't retrofit the media controls due to there being no cut out for the phone buttons. But as it turns out the buttons are quite easy to remove.
