service interval reset

Quick question:
can i reset service interval even if service is not due for 4 month (i want to service earlier than that)??
Reason i ask is there will be no service indicator on dashboard like there would be if it was due!

I service mine at 10000 mile intervals and just turn off the service reminder whenever it randomly appears. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

10000 miles is too long, and a road to rocker or valve wear. Thumbs Up Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

It's 2/3 of the recommended service interval, using quality Millers oil I'd have thought I was looking after it well?

These engines really need 6k oil changes in normal motoring, and 3k miles in harsh conditions. LRs extended service intervals are too long for good engine life.
I change mine at 6k, which is about annually for me, and the oil I use still has decent lubrication properties at that distance. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I’m sure there are still many still running that do the 10000 interval . I think mine has to go soon because of the chocolate they are made of - engines , drivetrain, electronics etc etc.. Only had it 9 years from new and it seems they are a really bad car according to many n here

Not really sure many on here think they are a bad car, quite the opposite actually 🤔 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Maybe it’s the nature of forums - where all the problems are highlighted. My last car was Hyundai Tucson over 9 years ago and there were a lot less apparent problems- but Hyundai were on their march into the uk market so hadn’t been around here long

The Freelander 2 is a fantastic vehicle, but like all vehicles there are certain parts that aren't so well made, like the rear diff and PTU. The rest of the vehicle is pretty good including the engine, as long as it's looked after properly.

My engine required a partial rebuild and a replacement cylinder head, but I did buy the vehicle with a damaged engine, although I wasn't expecting to find a nut in the engine. Big Cry

For the money a Freelander 2 costs, there isn't really anything that's equivalent, and as good to drive, with that lovely LR commanding driving position. Thumbs Up Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Just like any other industry, there are complaints when things go wrong, rarely hear anything when things go well.

The most recently designed cars are more reliable. The Freelander is an old car, but it is more reliable than my previous car which was more reliable than my car before that.

I have no complaints about the Freelander (bought new). Actually the longer I have it the more I appreciate the design. Hope it lasts 18 years, & I can't see why not, like each of my previous cars. Currently I wouldn't know what to replace it with.

My sister has a vertically challenged Freelander (Evoque) a year older than my Freelander & she has no complaints.

If you simply want to clear the 'service' on a MY13 or later:

Actually mine needs clearing again, but I just don't notice it anymore so haven't bothered. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I agree with what's written above, you only hear about the problems.

One of these reasons IMO is you just have to look at just how many freelander II's are on the road,
it's bound to seem like an unreliable car even if the percentage problem rate is the same as any other car.

I think I have had every common problem I've read about on here but I still love the car and am reluctant to get rid.

I have had my FL2 for over five years kept up with all the servicing has been my daily transport for all that time in all weathers NEVER had ANY problems apart from a blown bulb NEVER let me down. However now retired and not using it at all stays in the garage so might consider selling ? but what would I repace it with ?? 2013 FL2 XS.
