2013 SD4 Auto towing a caravan. On the A1 this morning adjusting speed with cruise control and revs start going all over the place for a few seconds. . It settled down again but when I pulled off to the roundabout these was a strange werring noise. Got away from roundabout allthough it was pretty sluggish and it wouldn't change above 3rd. Pulled over and massively clunky between drive and park. Set off again and everything seems fine.

Any ideas?

Can't offer any other thoughts really.

My own SD4 did similar whilst towing a caravan a couple of years ago. I had the Reduced Engine Performance message come up.
Did you get any error messages?

It did come good, the check engine light even went away. Don't recall if I bodged the Brazilian reset.

I suspect it was associated with the long ascent I was on, rising coolant temp and hitting the accelerator to kick down the transmission.

I have since had the trans overhauled with a new set of valves thingys. MY11 SD4 SE Auto
