Usual farce - combined motor and buildings contents renewal in from Admiral, £402 and £169 respectively; the motor element up by 25%.
Gave them a call and without putting them under any pressure was offered ‘loyalty’ discounts totalling £80, the bulk of which was the motor premium. Happy at the discount, less so that you should have to ask every year for them to review their renewal figures. Ironically in their email they point out that as I’ve been a customer ‘some years’ (only a couple in fact) it might be worthwhile to check comparison sites to ensure I’m getting the best price available - I did, and couldn’t touch their renewal Rolling with laughter

Who are you insured with, Bobupndown? Most of the renewal quotes I’m getting are in and around £400.

My insurance has gone up about 20% this year.
It's now £320 all in, but this does include business use, breakdown cover, windscreen cover and key cover, but only 5,000 miles a year, which is all I do these days. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone.
2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone.
Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver.
1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project.

My insurance is with Aviva at £300 do I ran my details through compare the market and got a quote of £286 so I thought that I would call Aviva and haggle as usual. However there is no phone number and they now say on their website that they will not price match and no haggling. For £14 I can't be bothered but has anyone else seen this trend? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I had a similar conversation with SAGA . Long story short , I went to site sponsor A plan , who’d previously insured my FL2 , when I ran 2 vehicles . I talked to a real person on the phone and got a better deal . The Attitude from SAGA was appalling , I’d have changed from them on principle if it cost me , but I’m glad to say it didn’t . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

This no haggle policy is becoming more and more common not just with car insurance. I used to look forward to renewal time not anymore sadly

Insurance rip off.

Interesting about insurance costs. I have a holiday home in Europe (Estonia) where I run a 2004 Ford Focus C-Max Ghia. Full comp insurance on 6000kms pa. Any driver over 25 with permission of owner - excludes collisions with wild life (deer, moose, wolves and bears!) —————- 95 Euros! If you want insurance for that it’s 500E extra - but not many people take it if you live in towns. Insurance in the UK is a bloody RIP OFF. Just been quoted £700+ by Land Rover insurance - full comp 7000 miles pa with full No Claims, aged 66, retired, one sp30 in 20 years of driving and one accident ( not my fault). Rip off.

Mine has dropped by £25. That brings it down to £400 . Which, considering the modifications I've done to it is pretty reasonable. Plus I've moved to a "higher risk" area - only a mile up the road and classed as the same area , but closer to a motorway junction making it easier for thieves to get away if it gets stolen - apparently. Even though in all the years I've lived in this general area, car crime was extremely rare.

Ours this year (admittedly on the i3 now, but worth more of course) went down to a quoted £260 at renewal, so rang them up (LVE) and they said they didn’t do “cut throat” quotes anymore, and offered me £10 off but that was it, no hard sell……so I said no thanks and went with Churchill (oh yes) which was £175…..for a better deal! Shocked

Fully comp of course, retired, two drivers one fault parking ding a few years ago go, no points or prosecutions.

I don’t mind paying that for insurance Thumbs Up Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......
