United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Gross Vehiclel Weight Frrelander 2

Guys
Need some help - trying to calcualte the speed for towing in France. Basically if the total train weight is less than 3.5ton then its 1 speed over that its another speed.
Am struggling to work out the Gross Vehicle Weight of the Frrelnader 2 manual 2007. Anyone help?

I haven't got the handbook with me, but from memory it is 2,505kg. It is the same for every Freelander 2 whether manual or auto, petrol or diesel.

'Frrelnader 2', training for wine in France?

Edit: It is 2,505kg. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I have a label at the bottom of passengers side B pillar.

It has weights printed in Kgs which I thought were Net, Gross, and Front and Rear Axle.

Edit - After reading the above post - I think it shows Gross, Train, plus Front and Rear Axle.

Are you sure that it’s train weight that determines the speed? Since a Category B licence is restricted to 3500 kg Gross Vehicle Weight, including trailer/caravan, it’s perhaps more likely that it’s the GVW figure that determines the speed limit. Also, it’s hard to see how your Train Weight, i.e. your actual weight, could be easily determined by the roadside, but your GVW is there for all to see on the VIN plates on your tow car and trailer/caravan.

You apparently might also need these? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0042HMAX2?tag...5NU5J9NRK3

Not to mention having a UK sticker rather than a GB one!

GTW is derived from the sum of GVW of towing vehicle + MTPLW of trailer. These are the plated weights that both vehicle and trailer should display. It is the plated weights that determine GTW, not actual weights as this can ot be checked at roadside.
With FL2 GVW of 2505 and my old caravan MTPLW of 1580 this gave GTW of 4085 so had to stick to lower speed limits on continent. It IS the combined GTW that determines applied speed limits. Andy

The maximum Gross Train Weight of the FL2 is 4505 kg, i.e. the GVW/MAM of the FL2 - 2505 kg - and the maximum braked trailer weight it can tow - 2000 kg. The plated weight of the trailer - its GVW - has nothing to do with it, provided, of course, that the loaded trailer doesn’t weigh more than its GVW. Train weight is actual weight but for speed limits it’s clearly impractical to use actual weight so the GVW of car and trailer added together determine the speed limit that applies.

This is a FL2 VIN plate

The first row is the GVW and the second row is Gross Train Weight. The difference between the two - 2000 kg - is the weight the FL2 can tow.
