United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Sumatra Black
Welcome views on next car

Firstly I am asking forum members as over past 12 years I have had great advice and secondly I cannot decide what to buy !

I was looking to get a new Q5 TDI S line but have now been ‘tempted’ by a 2018 Porsche Macan 2.00 Petrol with 19k miles from Porsche dealer thus 24 month full warranty.
Not much difference in overall purchase price.
Family all say get Porsche - enjoy your retirement.

Definitely go for the Porker, we had sublime service from our dealer, yes it’s basically the same but, oh so different. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......

Simple question to ask yourself coming from owning a FL2 which is a poormans Land Rover if the Porsche goes wrong how much will it cost me & more important can I afford it ??? Buying a Porsche is one thing running it is another, but if it has 24months warranty & you sell it then go for it nothing to worry about 👍👍👍 go for the Porsche 👍👍👍

The Macan's boot is a lot smaller than the Fl2's; 488L vs 755L . This may or may not be important to the OP. Jules

It should be a bit quicker than the Freelander with the 2.0L 177kW petrol engine!

If you want performance, try any of the Electric (Twin Motor 4x4) SUVs.

I tried an I-Pace recently and was impressed by its ability to gain speed, almost instantly. No waiting for the car to find the right gear. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Hi,

buy the one that makes you smile the most Thumbs Up

we are on our 2nd Cayenne Cool (we found the Macan felt a bit "tight" inside for us)
dont fall for the dealer saying how much value the options hold, the Porsche cars do hold their value well but the options cost £££ and the dealers try to get the full cost when their selling them again used (but not so much when your selling it Rolling Eyes )

we have found the dealers Very good for info and buying and Glad to say dont know about issues as not had any Very Happy

Like all dealers they no doubt have a good markup, so prices Are negotiable Whistle
not sure if a used Porsche includes a "Porsche experience" at Silverstone but well worth asking for it to be included, dealers do get allocations, it gives you a great way to explore what they can do Whistle Whistle
they have an offroad course as well and are very capable (dont tell anyone else this though let them keep thinking a grass verge is the max Exclamation )

Back to spec, check what you Want/Need as every Porsche is built to individual order so check it has what you want, they are all different.

We found with Porsche once you have had one you realise why peeps buy another one

What ever you go for enjoy it. Cool

Thumbs Up .
my first ever FL2 and I did keep it longer than most other cars!
But its now gone way up Norf

New Range Rover Sport if I can put a deposit down with possibly an 18 month wait for delivery. Big Cry Oh and I can't have it in the colour of the car in the showroom.

had test drive of Q5- impressed- very quiet/smooth, well built and comfortable- more so than the Disco Sport just sold.
Then went down the road to look at Porsche Macan - basic car but lots of 'extras'- wants £43k for a 4 year old car - a generation 1 car(now on generation 3) .
Liked the car but worry its 'old' already- will look around for a Gen 2 car to look at and test .
Would be happy with either Q5 or Macan - think 'other' costs will be the decider - i.e servicing / running costs for both over 3 years which = 36k miles- another spreadsheet to do !! 2011 XS,Sumatra Black, GONE MARCH 2014- RR Evoque Prestige 5 door ,MY 2014,Loire Blue, Silver Roof, Panoramic roof.
