MY13 manual.
My passenger side rear shock absorber is leaking fluid.
Searched for this part wasn't easy.
Please tell me part number and where to buy? Do we need Land rover oem part or just the equivalent.
Used to get car service at Team Valley Gateshead but I moved to isle of Wight recently and there isn't Land rover centre in the island.
If you know a good garage in the island please let me know.

Getting the part is easy, just contact forum sponsor Advanced Factors in Southampton.
They sorted me out with a pair of OE rear shocks last summer, when my near side shock spring a leak.
Can't help on fitting them though, although any reputable garage should be able fit shocks, as there's nothing really different between the Freelander rear, and many front shocks on cars.
However not all garages will fit parts you provide, which leaves you with a dilemma of what you could end up with. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

As you said there aren't many garages prepared to fit the part you buy so I may have to get it done by them.

sounds a bit much to me? I would shop around and get a better quote. 2013 FL2 XS.

Get some boot trim panel clips as you will break a few. The clip in the sort of the middle of the side trim panel is a bit irritating to line up, but you get there eventually. All the clips need to clip in their respective holes or you will have a squeak.

Thank for your comments! Don't think I could do it myself as the drive is sloping and we are going to France very soon. Phoned Team Valley, just wanted to compare, and they quoted £620, they said the LR part already cost £380. I am sure Advanced factors is about £80-90 each. As it's too costly and although I want to change both I can only afford one unfortunately.

Ours has a set of Bilstein shocks fitted to the rear. Not sure on part number or cost.

A few months ago i replaced all 4 shock absorbers to Bilstein ones. Ones at the rear end were cheaper ( around 75 EUR ), front ones were around 85 EUR. If i were you, I would go for Bilsteins or KYB as they are known for their quality. I believe ( and correct me if I am wrong) OEMs are produced by Delphi.

It is not a hard job at all, especially if you have an impact gun. The hardest part would be to compress the spring and not to kill yourself but if you dont have a spring compressing bench, I believe that you can just take the old struts to any workshop and they would change the shock absorber for cheap. Apart from that, all you have to do is to remove the wheel, all suspension parts connecting to bearing assembly, brake caliper, abs sensor, push out the cv joint, undo the bolt that hold shock absorber and bearing assembly together, hammer them apart, and three 10 or 13 mil nuts at the top. There are a few step by step instructions online. Abs sensors tend to be stuck, but with WD40 and two flathead screwdrivers they eventually come out sooner rather than later.

But I would advise you to also buy the shock absorber bumper, especially if there were clunking noises coming from rear. LR001137

Not sure those numbers you quote are correct.
I don't think I can't do it for various reasons mentioned above. Especially if you need a compress tool for the spring which I don't have.

I put a pair of KYB on the rear, they've been great so far and they weren't too pricey. IIRC they were less than £60 each delivered.

Quality seems spot on and they function well.

KYB have some good and bad reviews. My experience of them isn't great, although it's not on an LR.
My daughter has a Fiat 500 1.4 sport. For last MOT I fitted a full set if KYB shocks, as the originals were dead.
This year's MOT, the nearside rear shock has been noted as showing oil misting, which was a surprise, considering they've only covered 4,000 miles since being fitted. So my impression of KYB isn't great really, which is why I'm happy I used AF to supply me a pair of OE rear shocks for my Freelander. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
