Dashboard crackings

Are there available dashboards as parts? Or is there any way to fix cracks?

My previous two cars 25 & 18 year old never had cracked dashboards & were always parked in Sydney sun. Current car mostly garaged. Have seen the same Freelanders parked in the local streets for years & some of them are the early models. I do glance in the widows occasionally, never seen any cracks!

Maybe a wrong cleaner was used. I rarely clean our dashboard other than a quick dust with the air gun when one can't see the clock.

years ago jaguars left an xj6 prototype in the Arizona desert for days and days to see if the dashboard and paint stood up to the heat, and the bits that failed were improved.so imsure land rover has done the same.

It is a common problem for all makers in hot dry climates, in the States they sell aftermarket “dash bibs” which fit over the dash to either hide cracks already appeared or to protect from future cracks appearing.

And a few anecdotal “didn’t happen to my dash” is not empirical evidence Wink Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......
