I've seen another watch I'd like. A relative cheapy too. Might even get more than one of them. Just released so a bit hard to get hold of at the moment.

A Moonswatch! I like the look of them.

Some of those are very nice, looks like the original Speedmaster Automatic watch with styling from Swatch, I like the grey version, although some are a bit…er…..odd shall I say Rolling with laughter

I had a very nice Speedy Auto same as this but it was from the Omega Olympic collection, I sold it as I have never been keen on chronos, preferring simpler face designs. Regards

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

I like the Mercury version, problem is after reading the spec’s your paying £200 for a plastic…oops sorry Bioceramic cased quartz movement and it’s only 3bar proof……it’s a very, very cheap watch and your paying £170 for the design. Regards

I have no interest in watches but was staggered that someone would pay £155k for a broken watch, rare or not

A bit large for a watch, but I have polished up to 5000 grit & flame blued, actually with a heat gun, the clock hands, needed maintenance. First go at bluing & am happy with the result. The bit of purple is heating a bit under 290°C & the grey colour is a bit over 290°C. 2 days to polish the clock hands.

In the Times this morning . During WW2 the Luftwaffe seized all military watches from allied aircrew . Oddly they let Rolex supply new ones to officers via the Red Cross on a ‘ pay later agreement ‘

2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned !

2023 Toyota Hilux invincible X 2.8 Auto .

This is true it’s well known, and these watches are sought after by collectors, they are just the normal everyday (for 1940’s) Rolex watch, not a military issue version (which are extremely sought after) but it is the history behind them that makes them valuable.

I think the standard mil issues watches were confiscated mainly for souvenirs by the guards, so Rolex (being in a neutral country!) saw an opportunity being Swiss Wink Regards

JLR is offering a limited edition watch. Built by Bamford not JLR so it wont breakdown hopefully. Smile

https://media.landrover.com/news/2022/11/b...-longevity

"Reflecting the Defender design language, the LR001 combines restrained surfaces with inherent capability. Built to last with a 40mm titanium case and a premium Sellita SW200-1b automatic movement, with a refined ruthenium anthracite finish it embodies sustainability through longevity."

Bad timing to highlight the Ruthenium bit as it was so named by Karl Ernst Claus to honour Russia - ooops ! Laughing

Also WTF is "Defender design language" Jules

For anyone with an apple watch... Clockology is the app to get!

I now have a rather cool Bell & Ross Apple watch!

I never wear one nowadays. I have a Swiss watch lost in a drawer somewhere. If I want a watch, a £10 one from Samuals does the job. Seriously, expensive Swiss Watches are very nice pieces of engineering, and that is what interests most people.
