Has anybody been able to replace the rear offside (RH) brake pipe without removal of other major components ? Jules

I've ordered a new pipe so will find out, it may be possible to feed though from the middle towards the rear but I doubt it
without having to significantly amend the pre-made form, so I'm expecting to have to cut and joint into the existing pipe.
As an aside has anyone found that the polyethene under the brake fluid reservoir cap technique to seal the system actually works?

Just for the record and much to my delight, I managed to install the new line in one piece.
It involved working from the middle and feeding the rear section in first but not too bad a job really.
After a good week of preventive maintenance, all is well and now back on the road

Why are you guys replacing those? Are they rusty?

It was part of replacing the hoses. Three came off no problem but the RH rear the male union nut was stuck solid to the pipe and no amount of heat/freezing/penetrating fluid was freeing it. It may of sustained damage at some point because the pipe wasn't plumb with the nut but the plastic coating on the pipe appeared swollen for an inch or so above the nut so some corrosion may have been present.

I would have thought there wasn't enough spare on the rears to re-flare the existing pipework for the hose connector or did you make an inline connection with a short length of new pipe?

The genuine parts are not too expensive. The pipes have the right connectors, obviously, and all the bends in the right places plus clips and foam padding (front RH side). For me, it would have been more work/hassle to mend a pipe than replace it.

Hi gents, sorry to resurrect an old thread but I was wondering, did you replace any of the single clips holding the RH brake line in place?

Mine are very brittle and a couple have snapped whilst doing a tank out job, the clips they’ve ordered in at the stealers have a hole, as if to let a bolt pass through and look nothing like the ones on my car.

The ones on my car secure into the body with a plastic spur, and from a bit of research appear to be a part used on old discos and defenders.

Bit of a long shot I realise, but do you happen to remember how your brake line clips were fixed to the car?

IIRC the clips (HC1 in diagram above) just pressed into holes in the bodywork - rather like some trim clips.
I've have to look underneath to be sure though - will get back to you Jules

Thanks Jules, the closest thing I can find on the internet is PN NTC9543L, which isn’t listed as a FL2 part but looks to be exactly the same as the clips on mine.

just had a quick look - the clips just push into round holes just like trim clips - the pointy end has flexible serrations which grip the metal sheet. Jules

The clips in question are part number LR000061 if anyone needs this info for the future.
