I've ordered one too, seems like a neat solution to me.

A USB-C port is an option on Skoda Kodiaqs, and therefore quite possibly many VAG vehicles.

Thanks for posting this, I've had a dash cam in the FL2 for a couple of months now but haven't wired it up yet! I pulled it out of the old car. This has spurred me on to wire it up, probably won't get the loom but it has been handy to see ideas for where to connect to!

Wonder where they got the idea from.

If you do a search on here, I did this, slightly differently using the switched supply to the dipping mirror and a pc board that converted it to a usb, about 6 yrs ago!

Fitted one this morning and I've run the wire with the female USB running through the little cutout that the mirror wiring uses.

A short extension to the camera base and jobs a good un.

And another satisfied customer! I needed to get power to a wireless charger that is attached to a Brodit clip beside the driver's side air vent. It has a USB C connection, but I needed an extension cable to run up the A pillar and behind the roof lining so a USB C to USB A cable connected the charger to the USB A socket. As the charger only draws about 6W it’s safely within the limit imposed by the 2 amp fuse supplied with the tap-in loom although the description on the Powerful UK website says it’s a 3 amp fuse.

The charger is MagSafe compatible so it grips my little iPhone 13 Mini quite securely although I’m not sure it would be up to holding a larger phone like the ‘full size’ 12 or 13, Pro or Pro Max. Combined with wireless CarPlay in the Xtrons headunit this is the perfect combination for me. YMMV!

Powerful UK say on their website:

“Note - We have had reports of this not working for the Freelander 2 facelift models from 2012 onwards. Any issues, please get in touch.”
