Just seen this on YouTube seems a better idea than running the cables down the windscreen to the fuse box etc. Any thoughts ?

Funny that me too I’ve been researching dash cams and this looks pretty simple it would maybe be easier for me to get a BlackVue as my wife’s car has one of those but they seem a bit pricey.

I have my dash cam where it belongs on the dash with wires into fuse box coming out under the top speaker mount 😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Great idea, haven’t bothered with a dashcam ‘cos of routing the wiring down the side of the window, will try and think of other things to power off the lights like that.

Very good idea, I like the way the power stays on for a while after parking the car.

I can't remember which car, but recently I noticed that a new car had a usb power outlet in the overhead light console, ready for a dash cam, and also the new RRS has an integrated front and rear dash cam listed in the extras. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Yes, I'd just noticed that. I was thinking of a Nextbase unit, which uses a smaller USB (micro I think)

Having had the roof lining of my FL2 down to run the cable for a rear dash cam I can confirm that there is enough room for an adapter.

Two points. In my Disco i used a TomTom with a standard USB connection into a multi unit with lighter connections and one USB. So, you can get a fullsize USB connection .
In the Freelander my camera is mounted at the bottom of the screen with the cable running down the side of the centre console and fed through self adhesive cable clips for tidiness.
Very tempted to rig up the TomTom as the satnav is total rubbish. Jim A

The sat nav was better than Google maps on Friday evening, when I was trying to get out of Wales over the River Seven. The M49 was closed, as was parts of the M4, but Google kept bouncing me between various closed junctions. The Freelander nav (which I wasn't using at the time) got the TMC signal, and redirected me over the Seven at Chepstow, and on to the M5 without any drama at all, which was a surprise.  Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.
