Price for automatic gearbox oil change?

Approximate cost please to have the automatic gearbox oil changed?
Is there a filter that requires to be changed?
2011 model 70000miles, no faults purely for maintenance. Al C

Be good to know approximate costs as mine needs doing.
Some places with the kit clean out g!box with specific machine and others effectively top up but there is probably some old oil left in so best to check what your getting.

Hi, I had mine done (full flush on machine) and prices ranged from £250 to £350. Filter is inside and inaccessible without dismantling box. I was recommended to use a Fedauto member:
https://www.fedauto.co.uk/memfind.html
Very happy with results, much smoother shifts and engaging D or R. They also reset gearbox and it relearns shifts according to driving style I believe. My box was 119000 miles and had not been done previously, well worth it in my opinion!

No filter to change. But ATF level should be checked when at 60C.
Page 1303 onwards - JLR workshop manual pdf

Also a single drain and fill only removes about 40% of the old ATF (approx 3L remaining inside the autobox) so you have two choices:
1) repeated serial drain & fills
2) use a continuous flushing system to drin old ATF as new ATF is pump in. Jules

Might be a bit too far for the OP but I had mine done last year by Henshall Engineering, Chelford, between Knutsford and Macclesfield.
Cracking good job and great service with a proper flushing machine, cost me £276.

As has been said above, the filter is buried deep inside the gearbox and is not accessible without a major stripdown.

Hi folks, I'd like to change my transmission fluid on my freelander 2013 sd4 using the repeated dump and fill method, I'm having difficulty finding the correct fluid, I've read that the later cars used jws3324 with earlier cars using jws3309, my car doesn't have the "drop into neutral at lidle" feature.
Any advice would be much appreciated as landrover wouldn't tell me the spec of the fluid, just that it was £47 a litre😮, he did mention AWF21 which I think might be the gearbox type.
Thanks in advance folks😊😊👍

For MY up to end of 2010 use JWS 3309

For MY after start of 2011 use AW1 (JWS 3324)

There is advice on how to do a full fluid change on the Volvo Groups ( same auto box as ours) it's called The Gibbons Method just google it.

Mine cost about £200 at my local gearbox specialist. 13 years old and 130k on the clock. No record of it ever been done before. Interestingly they said the oil was still red with no sign of deterioration.
