LED Replacement Lamps

Good Day
I recently saw some LED lamps (H7, H4, etc) made by Phillips, that can replace the normal halogen ones.
Has somebody tried this upgrade and are they any better than the standard ones?
Is it just a straightforward job to install them (plug & play), or are some other modifications required?
(My car is a MY2011, SD4 model).

H11 LEDs in the Projector lamp will generally work ok and give reasonable light distribution, but they will be utterly pants in the H7 reflector section for main beam. Loads of glare, very little "throw" in a reflector.

Not all LEDs are created equal, some have better light distribution than others, but even the best struggles to work well in a reflector lamp. Current driveway contents:

And keep in mind that LEDs in a non LED headlamp are now an MOT failure. We had an HID kit in the wife's VW Eos, which failed the MOT as the lights weren't as they left the factory.

I've tried many different makes of LED in reflector headlamps, none provided good beam control, so light outputs are less than a standard H7 bulb, and they blind drivers coming in the opposite direction. The focal point of an LED emitter is simply to large for the reflector to function accurately, so light is simply dispersed in all directions. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Loads of folk have had HID kits fitted to replace the appalling HB3 bulbs fitted within their projector lens lights but how many have incurred an MOT fail?? MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

No issues with my hid kit at mot. I know I sound like a broken record about them but they really are the best upgrade you'll make to your Freelander. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
