It’s the switch the button on the dash should also open it lots of stuff about replacing it on here it’s straight forward and pretty easy. |

Press and hold both lock and unlock buttons together for 3-4 seconds and it unlatches the boot. Current driveway contents:

I just tried to spray lots of contact cleaner by trying to peel back some of the covering on the switch and spraying round the edges. Switch now works every time since I did this compared to hardly working at all before |

It's not hard to replace or repair the switch, but as long as the dash and fob buttons work it's not a huge inconvenience. |

I replaced mine a few weeks ago. The microswitch had failed. It can't be repaired as it sealed into the moulding. So I bought a complete handle/switch and loom from Amazon. Although some people haver managed to prise out the switch from the outside, the JLR manual says to remove the tailgate trim and unbolt the handle strip - its not difficult. Just follow directions in the JLR manual which I assume you have downloaded or have an equivalent. Note: there are two different looms with different connections for the number plate lights. But the easiest thing to do is just buy the cheapest one and just join the two wires going to the actual switch itself and ignore the rest of the loom. https://amzn.to/3voAkmH Jules |
