See I happen to go to a manufacturer in Manchester that sells additives to the fuel manufacturers. They sell amongst other things an invisible dye that has a distinct signature, that signature is unique to each manufacturer. They also do a test kit.

I've been following a company called SulNOX for a while now (started by ex-world champion motorcycle racer Jim Redman and now run by his son Jimmy) and they produce a commercially available product called ElimiNOX ( https://eliminox.co.uk/index.php/products/fuel-conditioner ) which is claimed to not only remove the water and Diesel bug from your fuel tank, but also improve your MPG and reduce the NOx emissions. It's particularly recommended for vehicles older than 10 years old and classic cars. It cost about £38 per 500ml which works out about £2.30 per tankful of diesel.

I am in the camp of change the oil & filter, every six months what ever mileage you do, and change out the fuel filter every two years, i also twice a year drop a bottle of this into the tank spring and winter.

We have used miller’s in various diesil motor over the years not for cure but in hope of prevention. We tended to use it if doing a long run /journey thinking if everything was up to temperature etc it would work better. No idea as i am no mechanic, just trying to prevent problems. |

I use a monthly dose of Comma Diesel Magic, to help keep the injectors clean.

Another vote for the 2 stroke camp. Not sure it does any good, but again not sure it doesn't. Does not cost a lot so what is to lose. |
